Android: Turn Night Light On or Off

If your screen still looks bright white at night, the blue light filter for reading in dim rooms is probably switched off. Night Light shifts colors toward amber so your eyes work less to adjust in low light. Many people find it easier to fall asleep once the filter is active.

Turn On or Off Night Light auf Android

Night Light shifts your screen colors toward amber to cut down on blue light in dim rooms. It works as a display filter, so bright whites feel less harsh on your eyes without lowering overall brightness.

The feature runs independently from Dark theme. You can combine both, since Night Light only tints the display and does not change contrast, layout, or notification behavior.

Turn it on

Open SettingsDisplayNight LightUse Night Light to enable the filter. Move the Intensity slider to set how strong the amber tint looks on your screen.

Depending on your Android version, a scheduling option may appear below the intensity slider, letting Night Light switch on automatically at sunset or at a time you set.

Turn it off

Go back to SettingsDisplayNight Light and disable Use Night Light to return to normal colors.

If text still feels hard to read after enabling the filter, check your brightness level or Dark theme separately. Night Light adjusts color temperature only, it does not fix low contrast on its own.

Frequently asked questions

No. Night Light is a color filter applied by the display system, not a change in pixel brightness, so it has no meaningful effect on battery life.
