Remove an Account auf Android
When a phone carries several email or cloud accounts, each one keeps syncing its own contacts, calendar entries and files in the background. Over time that means duplicate entries, outdated appointments and wasted storage, especially if you stopped using the account elsewhere.
Removing an account on Android does not delete it from the service itself. It only unlinks the account from your phone and wipes every piece of data that was synced to the device, such as cached contacts, calendar entries, mail and downloaded files tied to that account.
This is different from just signing out of an app. Signing out of a single app usually keeps the account registered on the phone for other services. Removing the account through system settings takes it out completely, so every app relying on that account loses its synced data.
To remove an account, go to Settings ➔ Passwords & accounts ➔ choose the account you want to remove ➔ Remove account ➔ confirm with Remove account again.
If you only want to pause syncing temporarily, turning off individual sync toggles for that account is the better option. Removing the account is the right move when you no longer need it on this phone at all.
