Change Font Size
When text on your OnePlus looks too small to read comfortably, or too large and cramped, the system font scale is usually the cause. Apps without their own text settings simply inherit whatever size you set at the system level, which affects menus, notifications, and most third-party apps at once.
Show Old SMS Messages Stored on SIM Card
After switching to a OnePlus phone, older SMS messages from a previous SIM card do not show up automatically in the Messages app. They are still stored in the SIM card memory, not on the phone itself, so the app needs to be pointed to that storage location first. Show or Hide the Front Camera Notch

Assign a Default SIM Card to a Contact
If your OnePlus phone keeps asking which SIM to use before calling a certain contact, that contact has no fixed calling SIM set. On dual SIM setups this means every outgoing call to them needs a manual choice, even if you always use the same line for that person.
Turn Flashlight On or Off
Fumbling for a separate flashlight app when you need light fast wastes time, and some OnePlus phones do not show a flashlight icon on the lock screen at all. The rear camera flash doubles as a torch, but the toggle sits inside quick settings and is easy to miss if you have never swiped there before.
Change Default Homepage in Chrome
If Chrome always opens to the same news feed with shortcuts and suggested articles when you launch it, the browser is using a preset homepage instead of a site you picked yourself. On OnePlus phones this default start page ships active out of the box and keeps loading until you override it. You can swap it for any web address you actually use every day.
Change USB Connection Type
When you plug your OnePlus phone into a PC or laptop, it defaults to charging only and blocks file access. If Windows or macOS does not show the phone as a drive, or you need MIDI or PTP mode instead of MTP, the connection mode is set wrong on the phone side.
Enable or Disable Picture-in-Picture Mode
If a video keeps floating over other apps when you did not ask for it, or a media app refuses to shrink into a small window while you check messages, picture-in-picture permission is likely the cause. This mode lets one app overlay another in a movable box, but each app needs its own permission toggle to use it. Once that toggle gets switched off for an app, the floating window simply stops showing up, even if the app itself supports the feature.
Add an App Shortcut to the Home Screen
When the app drawer is turned on, your home screen stays mostly empty and every app only shows up in the full overview list. That means an extra swipe and tap each time you want to open something you use daily. Adding a direct shortcut fixes that without switching off the drawer.
Enable or Disable Google Voice Typing
If dictation stays greyed out on your OnePlus keyboard or the microphone icon simply refuses to appear, Google voice typing is likely switched off in your keyboard settings. The feature converts spoken words into text for messages, emails and notes, but it only works once it is active for your virtual keyboard. A locked device after a restart can also block access until you unlock it first.
Disable Lock Screen Password
If your OnePlus phone still asks for a pattern, PIN or password every time you wake the screen, the lock screen security feature is still active. This also keeps fingerprint and face unlock tied to that passcode, so removing it wipes any saved biometric data. You need your current unlock method on hand before you can turn the request off.
Delete Photos and Videos
Storage filling up on your OnePlus usually comes down to old photos and videos nobody looks at anymore. Deleting them from the Gallery app does not remove them right away though, since OnePlus keeps a safety copy for a while before space is actually freed up.
Enable or Disable Switch Access
If touch input is not an option for you, controlling a OnePlus phone can feel out of reach. Switch Access lets you navigate, select items, scroll and type using an external switch connected over USB or Bluetooth instead of tapping the screen. Turning the feature on or off happens in the accessibility settings, not through a hidden gesture.
Enable or Disable Battery Saver
When your OnePlus phone drains faster than usual, background apps, animations and sync jobs are often still running at full power. Battery Saver throttles that activity to stretch the remaining charge, and it can also switch on by itself at a set time, for example overnight while the phone is idle.
Power Button: Choose Power Menu or Voice Assistant
On many OnePlus phones, holding the power button on the side launches Google Assistant instead of the shutdown menu. That makes it awkward when you actually want to restart, power off, or trigger emergency mode. The behavior comes from a setting most people never touch after setup.

Delete a Single Text Message
Sometimes only one message in a long thread needs to disappear, not the entire conversation. On a OnePlus phone, the standard option to clear a whole chat removes far more than you actually want to get rid of. Deleting a single message only changes what you see on your own device, so the other person keeps their copy of it.
Enable or Disable USB OTG
When a USB flash drive, mouse, or keyboard connected to your OnePlus phone via USB-C is not detected, USB OTG support is usually switched off in the system settings. Without this option enabled, the phone will not exchange data with external USB accessories even if the hardware itself supports OTG. Leaving OTG active also has a small effect on battery drain when accessories stay plugged in for long periods.
Print a PDF File via Wi-Fi
When a printer sits in the same room but a PDF still will not print from your OnePlus phone, the Wi-Fi printing feature usually is not activated correctly. Android needs to detect the printer on the same network before the print dialog shows any device to choose from. Without that connection, the option list stays empty even though everything looks fine at first glance.
Edit Quick Settings in the Status Bar
If your quick settings panel is cluttered with icons you barely use, or a toggle like Flashlight or Screen Recorder is nowhere to be found, the layout just needs a manual edit. OxygenOS keeps every extra shortcut hidden in a separate row until you drag it into the visible panel yourself. Until you sort that list, you keep swiping past icons you never touch while the ones you actually need stay out of reach.
