Turn Auto-correction On or Off auf Oppo
Auto-correction is a Gboard text-input feature that replaces words it considers misspelled while you type, usually without showing a warning or an underline first. On Android, this setting lives inside the keyboard app itself, not in the general phone settings, which is why many users cannot find it right away.
Because the replacement happens instantly, short typos, names, and slang terms often get swapped for the wrong word before you notice. Disabling the feature stops automatic swaps but keeps the keyboard responsive for regular typing.
To change it, go to Tap on Settings ➔ Tap on Additional settings ➔ Tap on Keyboard & input method ➔ Tap on Gboard ➔ Tap on Text correction ➔ Enable or disable Auto-correction.
Turning the option off is useful if you type in mixed languages, use technical terms, or write short messages where accuracy matters more than speed. If you only want fewer aggressive corrections rather than none at all, check the related suggestion and prediction options in the same Text correction menu before switching auto-correction off completely.
