Oppo: Take Photos with a Single Tap on Screen

Tapping the screen to frame a shot on your Oppo camera sometimes fires the shutter instead of just setting focus. That happens because Touch to take photo is switched on, so the camera snaps the picture the instant focus locks on the spot you tapped. If you only wanted to adjust focus, this can lead to blurry or mistimed shots.

Tap-to-Capture: Take Photos with a Single Screen Tap auf Oppo

On Oppo phones running ColorOS, tapping anywhere on the camera preview can do more than set focus. When the Touch to take photo option is active, the camera locks focus on the tapped subject and releases the shutter automatically as soon as focus is confirmed. There is no separate tap on a shutter button involved.

This is convenient for quick single-handed shots, since one tap both frames and captures the image. It becomes a problem when you only meant to check focus on a subject before composing further, because the photo gets taken before you are ready.

You control this behavior here:

CameraSettingsShooting methodsEnable or disable Touch to take photo

Turning the toggle off restores normal behavior: a screen tap only sets focus and exposure, and you press the dedicated shutter button to capture. Turning it on again brings back instant capture on tap, which suits fast candid shots but not careful composition.

If you shoot moving subjects, macro details, or portraits where framing matters, disabling this option gives you more control. For quick snapshots where speed matters more than precision, leaving it enabled saves an extra tap.

Frequently asked questions

The Touch to take photo option is enabled under CameraSettingsShooting methods. With it on, tapping to focus also releases the shutter automatically once focus locks.
