Realme: Turn On or Off High Contrast Text

Realme UI uses thin font weights by default to keep menus looking clean, but that same thinness can make text hard to read against busy backgrounds or in bright light. The High contrast text feature in the accessibility settings adds a thicker black outline around letters in menus, notifications and many system apps, which improves readability without changing the font size.

This is different from increasing the display font size or turning on a dark theme. Font size only scales text up, and dark theme changes colors, but neither adds an outline around characters. High contrast text specifically targets the edges of letters, which helps people with low vision or general eye strain read faster with less effort.

How to turn it on or off

Open Tap on Settings ➔ Tap on Additional settings ➔ Tap on Accessibility ➔ Enable or disable High contrast text. Toggling this switch applies the change immediately across supported system menus, so you can check the effect right away and switch it back off if the outline feels too strong.

Keep in mind that not every third-party app respects this setting, since it mainly affects system UI elements and apps built with standard Android text components. If specific apps still look thin after enabling it, that is expected and not a sign the setting failed.

If your main issue is small text rather than thin text, adjusting the display font size or display size in the same accessibility menu usually helps more than high contrast text alone. The two settings can also be combined for maximum readability.
