Switch Camera Mode
Stuck on Photo mode and cannot find Panorama, Night, or Pro on your Samsung camera? Many of these modes sit behind a More menu instead of showing in the main swipe bar, which makes them easy to overlook. This is especially confusing on devices that also offer extra modes like Food or Hyperlapse next to the standard Photo and Video options.
Change Album Cover Image
Samsung Gallery replaces an album thumbnail with the newest photo or video every time you add something to that album, so the cover you actually want to see keeps changing. This makes albums with frequent uploads, like a shared family folder or a screenshot dump, hard to recognize at a glance. Locking in one specific cover image fixes that, but the option is buried a few taps deep in the album menu.
Turn Camera Flash On or Off
Photos taken indoors or in low light often turn out dark or grainy because the flash stays in automatic mode and only fires when the camera decides it is needed. If you want the flash to fire on every shot, or stay off completely for a more natural look, you need to take it out of Auto mode. This also affects how the flash behaves while recording video.
Take Photos with a Tap on Screen
Holding your phone at arm's length for a selfie makes the shutter button hard to reach, especially with one hand. Samsung's camera offers a shooting method called Tap screen that turns the whole preview into a trigger area instead of relying on the small button. Without it switched on, you're stuck stretching your thumb across the screen every time.
Empty the Gallery Recycle Bin
Deleted photos and videos in the Samsung Gallery app do not disappear right away. They sit in the Trash for a set number of days before Samsung removes them automatically, and until then they still take up storage space. If you need to free up space immediately or make sure sensitive files are gone for good, you have to clear the Trash yourself.
Change Video Resolution
If your videos look pixelated or your storage fills up too fast, the camera might be set to the wrong resolution. Not every Samsung model offers the same options: some stop at FullHD, while others let you record in UltraHD. Picking the right setting depends on what you plan to do with the footage.
Turn On/Off Mono Audio
If you share headphones or only wear one earbud, stereo playback leaves you missing half the sound. Samsung phones split calls, music, and video audio across left and right channels by default, so a single ear only catches part of the mix. Mono audio merges both channels into one so nothing gets left out.
Floating Shutter Button: Turn On or Off
Selfies get tricky when the on-screen shutter icon sits out of thumb reach on a big display. Samsung's Camera app has a separate floating shutter release that you can drag anywhere on the screen, but it stays hidden unless you switch it on in the shooting methods. Without it enabled, you're stuck reaching for the fixed shutter icon or the volume keys every time.
Hide the Camera Cutout in Full-Screen Apps
When an app stretches its content behind the front camera, the cutout turns into a black block that cuts into photos, videos or game menus. This happens because some full-screen apps do not automatically reserve space for the camera housing. The result is a visible bar sitting on top of your content instead of blending into the status bar.
Rearrange Camera Modes
Panorama sits at the front while Video is buried three swipes away, and every shot turns into extra scrolling. Samsung phones list Photo and Video as fixed defaults, but modes like Live Focus, Pro or Panorama can be shuffled into any order you actually use. The stock layout rarely matches how most people shoot day to day.
Show or Hide Music Info on Always On Display
When a track plays through Spotify, YouTube Music or another app in the background, the Always On Display can show the song title and artist. If that music info stays hidden or you want it gone from the lock screen, a single toggle inside the Always On Display settings controls whether it shows up at all.
Enable or Disable Quick Launch Camera
If a double press of the power button keeps opening your camera at the wrong moment, or you want that shortcut back after it stopped working, the Quick launch camera option is behind it. This function reacts to the side key whether the screen is on or off, and it ships active on most Samsung phones. A few taps let you turn it off or bring it back.
Save a Web Page as PDF
Recipes, route planners or a step-by-step guide often disappear once you close the tab, lose signal or the page gets updated. Bookmarking only keeps a link, and the offline saving option in the Samsung Internet browser does not always preserve the layout. Exporting the page as a PDF keeps the text, images and formatting stored directly on your phone.
Rearrange Albums in Gallery
If your favorite albums keep drifting to the bottom of the list, Samsung Gallery is likely sorting everything alphabetically instead of the order you actually use. Custom sorting works like rearranging app icons on the home screen, but the drag gesture only takes effect once alphabetical or date sorting is switched off. Until then, moving an album has no visible result.
Disable Autoplay Videos in Samsung Internet
Videos embedded in web pages start playing the moment a site loads in Samsung Internet, even over mobile data. That eats into your data plan and drains the battery before you have tapped anything on the page.
Take a Photo with the Camera Shutter
Finding the right way to snap a picture on a Samsung phone gets confusing when the Camera app opens in Video mode or a filter screen instead of Photo mode. The shutter icon changes shape depending on which mode is active, so tapping the wrong spot records a clip or opens the gallery instead of taking a picture. This mix-up is common right after updating the Camera app or switching phones.
Restore Deleted Photos from Gallery Trash
A photo or video you thought was gone might still be recoverable on your Samsung phone. The Gallery app keeps deleted files in a hidden Trash folder, but only for a limited time before they are wiped for good. If the recycle bin was switched off or the file is older than the retention window, recovery is no longer possible.
Reset Camera Settings
If your Samsung camera keeps producing odd results after tweaking resolution, filters, grid lines or shooting modes, restoring the default configuration usually clears the mess fastest. Custom settings like exposure values, watermark options or scene assist can silently stack up and cause blurry, oversaturated or oddly cropped shots. Resetting the camera app wipes every custom option but leaves photos and videos you already captured untouched.
