Samsung: Show Charging Info on Always On Display

When you plug in a Samsung phone, the Always On Display can overlay the charge percentage and estimated time to full right on the lock screen. Some people rely on this glance-and-go info, others find it distracting or want it gone for a cleaner look. Either way, the option sits in a display setting most people never touch.

Show or Hide Charging Info on Always On Display auf Samsung

Samsung phones can display charging status directly on the Always On Display while the screen is otherwise off. This includes the current battery percentage and an estimate of how long until the device reaches full charge. The feature is tied to a dedicated toggle inside the display settings, not to Always On Display itself, so switching AOD on or off doesn't change this behaviour on its own.

By default, charging information is turned on. If you find the extra text cluttering the lock screen, or you simply prefer a minimal AOD layout, you can switch it off without affecting any other AOD content like the clock or notification icons.

To change it, go to Tap on SettingsTap on DisplayEnable or disable Show charging information. The toggle takes effect immediately, so the next time you connect a charger you'll see whether the status text appears or stays hidden.

Turning this off is a cosmetic change only. It does not affect actual charging speed, battery health, or how the device manages power while plugged in. If your goal is to reduce screen-on time during charging rather than just hide text, look at your Always On Display schedule instead of this setting.

Frequently asked questions

No. Hiding charging information only removes the charge status text from the display. The screen still behaves according to your Always On Display mode when you connect a charger.
