Samsung: Turn Night Mode On or Off

If your screen feels too bright in dark rooms or your OLED display drains battery faster at night, Night mode on your Samsung phone is likely turned off. It switches the interface to a darker theme, easing eye strain and cutting power use on OLED screens. You can enable it manually or let it follow a schedule.

Turn Night Mode On or Off auf Samsung

Night mode swaps the light interface for a darker color scheme across menus, the notification panel and many system apps. On OLED screens, darker pixels use less power, so battery life improves alongside the reduced eye strain in low light.

Samsung places this setting inside the Display menu rather than hiding it in accessibility options, so it stays easy to find and toggle whenever lighting conditions change.

Where to find Night mode

Go to Open the SettingsTap on DisplayEnable or disable Night mode. From there you can switch it on or off instantly, or set it to run on a schedule so it activates automatically at sunset or during fixed hours.

If you prefer full control over individual app colors instead of a system-wide switch, check whether the app itself offers its own dark theme. Some apps ignore the system setting and need to be adjusted separately.

Night mode changes color only, it does not lower screen brightness. If your device still feels too bright at night, combine it with a lower brightness level or the Blue light filter for a more comfortable display.

Frequently asked questions

Battery savings are most noticeable on OLED and AMOLED panels, since black pixels use less power there. Samsung devices with LCD-based screens see little to no battery difference.
