Samsung: Turn Wi-Fi Calling On or Off

If calls keep dropping in areas with weak mobile signal but strong Wi-Fi, your Samsung phone probably has Wi-Fi Calling turned off. This feature lets the device route voice calls over a wireless network instead of the regular cellular connection. Whether it needs to be on or off depends on your carrier and where you spend most of your time on a call.

Turn Wi-Fi Calling On or Off auf Samsung

Wi-Fi Calling lets a Samsung phone send and receive calls over a wireless network instead of relying only on the mobile network or VoLTE over mobile data. It works as a backup path when cellular reception is poor but a Wi-Fi network is available, for example inside buildings with thick walls or in basements.

Not every carrier supports this feature, and where it is supported it usually needs to be enabled once in the network settings before it works automatically in the background. Once turned on, the phone switches between mobile network, VoLTE, and Wi-Fi Calling on its own depending on signal quality, without any extra tap during a call.

To change the setting, go to Tap on PhoneOpen the MenuTap on SettingsTap on Wi-Fi CallingEnable or disable Wi-Fi Calling. If the option is missing entirely, the SIM or carrier does not support the feature on this device.

Turning the feature off can help if calls sound distorted or drop repeatedly when switching between Wi-Fi and mobile data, since some routers or public networks handle voice traffic poorly. Leaving it on is usually the better choice at home or at work whenever mobile coverage is unreliable.

Frequently asked questions

Some carriers do not support this feature on every SIM plan or device model. If Tap on Wi-Fi Calling does not appear under Tap on Settings in the phone app, contact your carrier to confirm whether the service is available for your plan.
