Xiaomi: Enable Extra Battery Saver Options

If Battery saver is switched on but your Xiaomi phone still lights up the screen for every notification, the standard saver mode is not doing its full job. Always-on display can also keep draining power even while Battery saver is active. Two extra toggles sit outside the main Battery saver screen and control exactly this behavior.

Battery Saver: Extra Power Optimization Options auf Xiaomi

Xiaomi's Battery saver reduces background activity and limits performance, but two behaviors are controlled separately: waking the screen for incoming notifications and keeping Always-on display running. Both can quietly undo part of the battery savings, especially on phones with heavy notification traffic or an always-visible clock.

These two switches live one level deeper than the main Battery saver toggle, which is why they get overlooked. Disabling the screen wake for notifications stops the display from lighting up on every alert while power saving is active. Turning off Always-on display removes a constant low-level drain that adds up over a full day.

Where to find the setting

Open SettingsBattery & performanceSettingsBattery saver. From there, enable or disable Don't wake screen for notifications or use Turn off Always-on display.

Use these options if your phone is losing battery faster than expected during standby, even with Battery saver already enabled. Skip disabling Always-on display if you rely on it for quick glances at the time, and instead focus only on the notification wake setting.

Frequently asked questions

No. Notifications still arrive and appear in the shade, only the screen no longer lights up automatically when they come in. You can still check them by pressing the power button.
