Restrict Mobile Data Usage for an App auf Xiaomi
Mobile data restrictions on Xiaomi phones are managed per app through MIUI system settings, not through the app itself. Every app gets background data access by default, so apps you rarely open can still sync, refresh, or push notifications over mobile data without you noticing.
This matters most on limited data plans or when roaming, since background traffic from social media, cloud backup, or messaging apps adds up quickly. On dual-SIM devices the setting is split by SIM slot, so an app can be allowed to use data on one SIM and blocked on the other.
To restrict data usage for a specific app, go to Tap on Settings ➔ Tap on Apps ➔ Tap on Manage apps ➔ Choose an app ➔ Tap on Restrict data usage. From there, Turn On/Off Mobile data (SIM 1 / 2) and confirm with OK.
Turning the toggle off blocks that app from using mobile data on the selected SIM entirely, while Wi-Fi access stays untouched unless you restrict it separately. If notifications stop arriving after this change, the app likely relies on mobile data to fetch updates while running in the background.
