What the scan actually captures
During setup, the camera records several angles of your face and converts them into a mathematical map, not a photo. Every time you try to unlock, the phone compares a fresh scan against that stored map. The image itself is not saved anywhere you can browse to later.
Why speed and security trade off
Face unlock on most Android phones, including Realme devices, relies on the standard front camera rather than a dedicated depth sensor. That makes it fast in good light, but it also means it is generally considered less secure than fingerprint unlock. Realme UI flags this during setup and still requires you to keep a PIN or pattern active as a fallback.
When face unlock struggles
