Answer calls automatically

We can specify whether the OnePlus smartphone should automatically answer incoming calls when the device is connected to a Bluetooth headset or headphones.

This feature is called "Smart Answer for Bluetooth" on the OnePlus device and is useful when connected to the sound system or car radio.

Edit quick responses

The preset short replies or responses to reject an incoming call with an SMS message can be edited at any time in the phone app's settings to save personally tailored replies on the OnePlus smartphone.

Call barring

For example, if we are abroad with the OnePlus smartphone and want to avoid additional costs, a call barring function can be activated which blocks the corresponding outgoing or incoming calls.

The following options are available to us in the phone app

  • All outgoing
  • Outgoing international (home country excluded)
  • Outgoing international roaming
  • All incoming
  • Incoming international roaming

Note: When using Dual SIM, call barring can be set up individually for each SIM card.
The call barring password must be requested from the relevant network operator.

Fixed dialing numbers

The phone app on the OnePlus smartphone includes a feature to set up a call restriction and allow only specified phone numbers to be called or to make calls themselves.

This function serves as a safety feature when setting up a smartphone for children, for example.

After successful activation the allowed phone numbers can be entered in the same menu item.

Note: In order to FDN, the PIN2 is required, which can be found in the documentation of the SIM card.

Power button ends call

If you have difficulty operating the touch display on the OnePlus smartphone, active calls or phone calls can also be ended using the on/off button on the side of the device.

Hearing aids

We can enable Hearing Aid Compatibility (HAC) in the phone app settings on the OnePlus smartphone, which ensures that audio from the device being played is compatible with standard hearing aids.

Note: To find out which hearing aids support compatibility or are certified, please contact the manufacturer.

TTY mode

The phone app on the OnePlus smartphone supports TTY mode, which allows to use text-to-voice or voice-to-text if the feature has been enabled in the app's accessibility settings.

Wi-Fi calling

If network reception in an area is rather poor, we can make calls over a connected Wi-Fi network, as long as the option is supported by our own provider, which explains the term Wi-Fi calling or Wi-Fi calls themselves.

Call forwarding

Call diversion depends on the network operator and usually forwards missed calls to the mobile or mailbox.

If you wish, we can enter a personal telephone number for call forwarding, or deactivate the service altogether.

The following call forwarding settings are available in the phone app of the OnePlus smartphone:

  • Always Forward
  • When busy
  • When unanswered
  • When unreachable

Show or hide caller ID

The caller ID is sent with an outgoing call by default based on the network operator settings.

If you wish to remain anonymous when calling from the OnePlus smartphone, the caller ID can be disabled or hidden at any time.

Note: When using Dual SIM, the sending of the own phone number or caller id can be set up for each SIM card individually.

Call waiting

If we are in the middle of a phone call with the OnePlus smartphone while a second call is coming in, we can be notified via the call waiting function.

A signal sounds to alert us to the other call, which also provides further options:

  • Reject call
  • Answering a call and place the first call on hold
  • Answering a call and end the first call

Note: When using Dual SIM, the call waiting feature can be set individually for each SIM card.

Dark or light theme for phone app

The phone app on the OnePlus smartphone will be displayed in the default system theme, but can be set as light or dark default design if desired.

The advantages of the dark theme are that navigation is easier on the eyes and a reduction on the device's battery consumption.
