Usage & diagnostics

To improve the use of Android devices, OnePlus smartphone app usage and diagnostic information is automatically sent to Google.
This information is analyzed to further improve the services and performance, and some data is sent in aggregate form to Google's partners, such as Android developers.

Note: As it is not completely clear which data is sent exactly, we recommend deactivating this service.

Step 1:  Open the  Settings
Step 2:  Tap on  Privacy
Step 3:  Tap on  Advanced
Step 4:  Tap on  Usage & diagnostics
Step 5:  Enable or disable  Usage & diagnostics

Activity controls

By default, activity settings are saved and sent to Google to provide us with personalized Google services.

This includes the following activity settings, which can be (de)activated at any time in your Google Account:

  • Web & App activity
  • Site history
  • YouTube history
  • Personalized advertising

Google location history

By default, the OnePlus smartphone's location history is sent to Google and stored to provide us with personalized maps and services.

Google's location history settings can be (de)activated at any time directly in the Google Account settings.

Step 3:  Tap on  Advanced
Step 4:  Tap on  Google Location History
Step 5:  Enable or disable  Location History

Personalized Ads

The OnePlus smartphone's personal ad ID shows us personal ad suggestions based on our interests, such as web pages visited and web searches made.

If you deactivate personalized advertising, we will be shown the same number of advertising banners or pop-ups, but these may be less relevant.

Step 5:  Enable or disable  Opt out of Ads Personalization
Step 6:  Confirm with  OK

Reset advertising ID

The advertising ID is a unique identification number that is created on all smartphones or tablets and is used by companies and apps to provide us with personalized advertising suggestions.

When the OnePlus smartphone's Advertising ID is reset, all relevant data is deleted and a new identification number is automatically generated.

Note: Personalized advertising allows us to receive interest-based advertising suggestions.
If personal advertising is deactivated, the number of advertising suggestions received will remain the same, but may be less relevant.
