Adjust brightness

The brightness of the screen on the OnePlus smartphone can be fully adjusted to the user's needs.
The brightness of the display can be continuously adjusted using a slider.

The display brightness can also be set using the quick settings of the status bar, which ensures quick access if the environment has become spontaneously brighter, such as in sunlight.

Note: As the screen is sometimes the biggest consumer of the battery, we recommend that you only set the brightness to the level necessary to prolong battery life.

Step 1: Open the Settings
Step 2: Tap on Display

Sleep mode

We can specify when the OnePlus smartphone's screen should automatically turn off and go into sleep mode.
As the display is one of the biggest consumers of power, it is recommended not to set the time until automatic standby too long.

If a display lock has been set up using a pattern, PIN or password, the device is also locked immediately.

We have the choice between the following timers or periods of inactivity until the lock or sleep mode takes effect:

  • 15 seconds.
  • 30 seconds
  • 1 minute
  • 2 minutes
  • 5 minutes
  • 10 minutes
  • 30 minutes

Adaptive brightness

In addition to adjusting the screen brightness on the OnePlus smartphone manually, we can also enable the adaptive display brightness.
Here, the OnePlus device automatically regulates the brightness and adapts to the given lighting conditions of the environment.

This setting is especially recommended because the screen, or rather its brightness, is one of the biggest battery consumers and thus battery capacity can be saved.

Note: If the automatic or adaptive brightness is enabled, we can readjust the screen brightness at any time by means of the slider. This is done either in the display settings as also in the quick settings of the status bar.

Dark tone

The dark design, also known as Dark Mode, does not find its own option in the OnePlus smartphone's settings, but is changed via the system tone, which adjusts the layout of the system.

The dark theme or design changes all system layouts and elements of the home screen, settings and compatible apps.

The function is not only easier for the eyes in low light conditions, but also saves battery power.

Screen rotation

If we turn the OnePlus smartphone horizontally, the entire screen content rotates with it, which is very practical when viewing internet pages, for example.

Unfortunately, this function also has negative effects, so that when you look at twisted pictures or photos, for example, they continue to rotate, which leads to you wanting to disable the automatic rotation of the screen.

Note: The function can be (de)activated at any time via the quick settings of the status bar, or via the general display settings.

  • Small

Note: By resizing the display, app icons on the home screen may lose their current position, but can be rearranged as usual.
