OnePlus How to Adjust Messages Settings
OnePlus 303Table of contents
Auto-download MMS
If we receive a message with file attachments, such as photos or videos, the contents of the MMS are automatically downloaded by default.
To have a little more control over the available data volume, we can deactivate this function on the OnePlus smartphone at any time.
Note: If the feature is enabled, you can also specify whether MMS messages should be downloaded automatically when using roaming.

- Open the Messages app
- Open the menu
- Open the Settings
- Choose a SIM card (Dual SIM)
- Enable or disable Auto-download MMS
- If desired, enable or disable Auto-download MMS when roaming
SMS delivery reports
To ensure that a sent SMS message reaches the recipient, we can activate the receipt of delivery reports or transmission reports on the OnePlus smartphone.
Note: This is a service of the respective network provider.

- Open the Messages app
- Open the menu
- Open the Settings
- Choose a SIM card (Dual SIM)
- Enable or disable Get SMS delivery reports
Spam protection
The messages app on the OnePlus smartphone comes with automatic spam protection that can be (de)activated at any time.
The anti-spam protection detects spam messages and sends rough details or information to Google without sending the phone number or the content of the message.

- Open the Messages app
- Open the menu
- Open the Settings
- Tap on General
- Tap on Spam protection
- Enable or disable Spam protection
Dark or light theme for messages app
We can choose for ourselves whether the layout of the messages app on the OnePlus smartphone should appear in a dark or light design.
By using the dark design, the battery is less stressed and the eyes are protected in darker environments.
You can also select the system setting that automatically adjusts the layout to the system if night mode (also dark mode) programming has been specified.

- Open the Messages app
- Open the menu
- Tap on Choose theme
- Choose Light, Dark or System default
- Confirm with OK
Use simple characters
If this feature is enabled in the Messages app on the OnePlus smartphone, special characters in an SMS message will be automatically converted so as not to exceed 160 available characters per SMS.

- Open the Messages app
- Open the menu
- Open the Settings
- Choose a SIM card (Dual SIM)
- Enable or disable Use simple characters
