Show emojis in symbols keyboard

We can display the recently used emojis in the suggestion bar of the icon keyboard to get faster access, but to do this, we need to activate the feature separately on the Xiaomi smartphone.

Emoji-switch key

If the messages are often decorated with emojis, we can activate the emoji-switch key for faster access, where the globe symbol is replaced by the emoji key, but it is still possible to change the language on the keyboard quickly holding the space bar.

Long-press for symbols

If this function is activated on the Xiaomi smartphone, we access to hinted symbols after a long keystroke. Which symbol is hidden behind which key is shown to us on the virtual keyboard. We can also edit the duration of the keystroke until the symbol is inserted. By default, 300ms is set.

Keyboard height

We can change the size of the keyboard on the Xiaomi smartphone, with a total of seven different options, from extra short to extra tall, which can be adjusted by a slider and, depending on the system, for direct selection.

Change keyboard layout

The keyboard on the Xiaomi smartphone can handle various keyboard layouts, which can be easily changed or added in the settings for each language. The following layouts can be changed for the keyboard:

Keyboard theme

By default, the Xiaomi smartphone sets a gray color on the Gboard keyboard. We can change the design, which will affect the background of the keyboard layout. We can choose from a variety of colors and designs, such as landscapes or gradients. We can also set whether or not the individual keys should be outlined.

Note: In this manual we will choose a different color and activate the key borders. The steps mentioned are for illustration purposes only and can be skipped or omitted.

Number row

In the Xiaomi smartphone's default settings, numbers are entered by tapping and holding the top row of letters, and the settings allow us to activate the number key row, which adds the numbers in another row to the top of the keyboard.
